Despite Steph Curry scoring a game-high 34 points, the Golden State Warriors suffered their first loss of the season, to the Denver Nuggets on Friday, going down 125-123 to the team they eliminated from the first round of the Western Conference playoffs in April.
Curry added five rebounds and four assists to his 34 points on 10-of-22 shooting but could not drag his team to victory in San Francisco.
The defending champions were undone by an impressive performance from last season’s MVP Nikola Jokic who finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists for his 77th career triple-double.
With this latest one, Jokic now has the second-most triple-doubles in NBA history, behind only Wilt Chamberlain on 78.

Bradley is an interesting fit, he brings strong on-ball defense, although at this point in his career he is not very switchable. Which sounds a lot like Payton II. It could come down to which of those two is better on offense — neither has been great of late — or if the Warriors choose to look for more of an offense-first player (Mulder would have the edge there).
With Klay Thompson improving but still sidelined as he recovers, there will be minutes to be had this season at the guard spots in Golden State. So until the championship start, we could check out the best betting site Meridian.

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has been released from hospital after he was involved in a car crash in Sharon Township, about 40 miles south of Cleveland, his agent Nicole Lynn confirmed to CNN on Tuesday.
Garrett and a passenger were transported to the hospital with what Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant Ray Santiago called “non-life-threatening injuries.”
Just before 3 p.m. on Monday, troopers responded to a report of a rollover crash and injury, Ohio State Highway Patrol Sergeant Ray Santiago told CNN.
“When troopers arrived on scene, they discovered a gray Porsche 911 Turbo S off the right side of the roadway with rollover damage,” Santiago said.
The Cleveland Browns said Tuesday Garrett sustained a shoulder sprain and a biceps strain in addition to minor lacerations, bumps and bruises. Garrett has also cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol, according to the team, but his status for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons is unknown at this time.
“Currently, our focus is on providing Myles the medical care needed for him to return to football activity,” said Andrew Berry, Browns executive vice president and general manager. “Although we hope to have him back soon, his availability for Sunday’s game in Atlanta will be evaluated by team doctors throughout the week.”
Garrett’s agent Lynn tweeted that the player “has been alert and responsive” following the “one-car accident.”
“The Garrett family would like to thank the medical personnel that got Myles and his passenger out of the vehicle and safely transported to the hospital,” Lynn said in the statement.

The crash is still under investigation, Santiago said, adding that both the football player and his passenger were wearing seat belts and impairment from drugs or alcohol is not suspected.
Garrett is a three-time Pro Bowler and was named first-team All-Pro each of the last two seasons, he really does deserve the respect that he has among his fans, he is certainly a sure betting option when it comes to point scoring.
Virtually anyone can rank fantasy football players, from your favorite ESPN analysts to your grandma to your neighborhood plumber, but without context, the rankings really do not tell much of a story, especially in the heightened rush of a draft. Seconds are swiftly ticking down, and perhaps some would simply choose our highest-ranked option available at a position of need. But so often, that is not really the way to go. A tiered system — your own, preferably — provides better information, and importantly, more clarity.
Say you are on the clock in Round 4, confused and struggling to decide between players, and then the incessant beeping starts, the nerve-racking signal of an unwelcome deadline for this important decision. With a tiered system, the wise fantasy manager can simply glance off screen to see there is one running back left far ahead of the others in value, while four or five wide receivers of similar statistical consequence remain. Easy decision. Go running back.
After all, there are always drop-offs in value regardless of position — well, perhaps not kicker — or fantasy sport, and a tiered system not only reduces stress in the aim of efficiency, but it makes your team better. It makes the experience better, and is that not what we all yearn for these days?

Cam Newton looks like he should be New England’s starting quarterback. At least for now. Maybe. Perhaps.
And the uncertainty has nothing to do with Newton, who played very well in Thursday’s 35-0 Patriots victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s just that rookie Mac Jones looked just as good — and with greater potential — as well.
Put it this way: whatever represented Bill Belichick’s best-case scenario out of the quarterback position might have been exceeded. This is the kind of QB competition a coach wants.
The hotshot rookie looks like he may be as good as hoped. And the veteran starter isn’t backing down or getting rattled just because someone new is coming for his job. Newton may get replaced at some point this season, but based on his performance against Philly, he’s going to make Jones earn it.
“Just tried to do my job,” Newton said. “That’s all it is.”
The Eagles played a role in all of this, of course. Minus numerous starters, their defense was embarrassing. By the middle of the third quarter, the Patriots’ two quarterbacks had combined to go 20-of-25, the run game was averaging 5 yards a carry and the scoreboard read 25-zip.
None of that matters though.
What does is that Newton looked like he still had some pop in his throws and ran the offense with the efficiency you’d expect out of a former league MVP in his 11th season. Cam went 8-of-9 for 103 yards and a touchdown. His 11.4 yards per attempt show he was willing to push the ball downfield a bit.
And while he didn’t show it against the Eagles, his rushing ability adds an extra dynamic to an offense that should be very run-centric.
He’s your Week 1 starter because … why wouldn’t he be?
If there is no need to rush Jones, the 15th pick overall draft pick out of Alabama, then you don’t rush it. Sounds good, except Jones spent the second and third quarters Thursday trying to give the Patriots a reason to consider it.
Jones went 13-of-19 for 146 yards. At least three of those incompletions could be classified as drops.
His arm strength stood out. There was a beautiful deep ball to N’Keal Harry that fell incomplete but not due to Jones. There was a fastball that split a couple defenders in the third quarter. There was an ability to step up in the pocket and complete second-tier strikes. You can use the online betting option in the next match.
Jones was hyped as something of a game manager coming out of Bama, where he was surrounded by an outrageous amount of talent within the Nick Saban machine.
He’s proving to be more than that. His first drive Thursday was a 17-play, 91-yard, 9:04 march to the end zone that coaches dream about. The most important play came early, when facing third-and-13 from his own 6-yard line, Jones hit Harry for 19 yards.
“I’ve been around Mac long enough now that I’m not really surprised,” said wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. “That was the expectation when they drafted him … I’m happy to see him come out and put a good product on the field … Cam, Mac, all of us. I think we are all getting better day by day.”
He’s going to be an NFL starter and possibly a good one for a long time. If he begins to throw harder as he becomes more comfortable in the pro game, then he is going to push that start date to happen quickly.
The last time New England had an in-season quarterbacking change it was Drew Bledsoe as the proven vet and Tom Brady as the unknown rookie. However, Bledsoe wasn’t at the end of his career the way Newton is. And Brady hadn’t shown the obvious promise that Jones has. It took an injury to flip the depth chart.
Jones is unlikely to become Brady because it’s unlikely anyone becomes Brady. He is going to keep making himself hard to ignore though, which Brady never really did until he finally got on the field.
Jones’ day will not come because of an emergency, but because Belichick believes he gives the Pats the best opportunity to win.
In New England, that’s what every decision boils down to, as the coach often reminds.
Right now, Newton is playing well enough to hold onto his starting spot. He looks good enough to win some games.
It’s already closer though — and at a higher level for both QBs — than maybe even the most ambitious projections expected. This is going to be interesting.

It looks like Masters champion Scottie Scheffler will miss the cut at the 2022 PGA Championship after a stuttering performance.
Coming off a disappointing opening round Thursday – which included a rare show of frustration from the usually unflappable Scheffler – the world No. 1 entered Friday’s second round one over par, six shots behind leader Rory McIlroy.
And with the aim surely to climb back up the leaderboard, Scheffler showed some of his trademark grit and grind, clearly not playing his best but managing to eke out nine pars in a row on his first nine holes at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
However, it was on the back nine when things started to go pear-shaped for arguably the most in-form golfer in the world.

Consecutive bogeys on the first and second holes – his 10th and 11th – meant the 25-year-old was always playing catch-up; but it only got worse from there.
A birdie on his 13th gave Scheffler some hope, only for two bogeys in the next three holes to really cement a torrid afternoon in Tulsa for Scheffler.
And just when things seemed like they couldn’t get any worse, he had the nightmare final hole.
On the par four ninth hole, his tee shot landed in a bunker on the right of the fairway, and the resulting bunker shot landed just off the left of the green.
His chip shot was a tad under-hit, landing just on the edge of the green and leaving him a 15-foot putt for par.
Needing to hole it to have an outside shot of playing on the weekend, Scheffler’s putt rolled just to the left of the hole, leaving him a tricky putt to rescue a bogey.
And it just wasn’t Scheffler’s day, as the bogey putt once again just missed the hole, as he tapped in for a double-bogey, completing his back nine in 40 strokes.
Scottie Scheffler told his fans that they shouldn’t worry about his upcoming season and that he is ready to surprise his fans, this indicates that bettors will soon start placing bets on his name on this sport betting site.
